The Wynne girls softball team has done a great job this season although they did not finish where they wanted to finish.  In Regionals, Stuttgart finished 1st seed, followed by Valley View 2nd, Brookland 3rd and Westside 4th.

Head Coach, Ashley Busby says: “A strength for this season would be our athlete’s ability to play multiple positions.  This allowed me, as a coach, to have some versatility with our athletes when students were injured.  We prepared this season for this due to the fact that we thought we would have athletes quarantined due to covid periodically throughout the season, so we prepared in the offseason moving them around and learning other positions.”

The Lady Jackets came to a consensus that their biggest strength is that they all work together as a team when it’s crunch time and they lift each other up when they are down. Since the season started the team has bonded more then they ever have. ¨The most difficult part of the season has been the dreadful lasts for our seniors. We have four seniors who have made a huge impact on our team and no one wants to see them go. They add so much joy to the team and are all full of jokes 24/7¨, said Ella Schlenker.  “We have matured a lot with the way we handle tough situations- Instead of just giving up we have learned.”

Jasi Carnes, Ally Davis, Hope Blackman and Destinee Johnson leave the team as seniors.  Jasi Carnes and Ally Davis racked up on awards at the finish of the season.  Jasi Carnes – MVP, All-State, All-Star, All-Conference, and the Butler Electric Top Hitter award with a batting average of .477; Ally Davis – The Melody Abott Shelter Insurance Golden Glove Award for her performance as pitcher and 1st baseman; she was also named to the All-Star team.  Sidney McDaniel received the Amazing Grace Award sponsored by Walmart and Grace Henderson. Payton Sisk – Top Base-runner; Ella Schlenker- most improved.

Busby finishes saying : “We are going to miss our Seniors, Ally Davis, Jasi Carns, Hope Blackman and Destinee Johnson, but we are looking forward to having a strong returning group back.”
